Development Director

Liberty brings a decade of nonprofit fundraising experience, working with educational and social service organizations in the DMV. Most recently she served as Associate Director of Development at Safe Shores–The DC Children’s Advocacy Center, having been promoted from Manager of Grants and Partnerships. In this role, she managed all aspects of the organization’s $5 million fundraising goal, including government grant management, fundraising strategy, donor relations, and campaign development. Under her leadership, funding from competitive government grants increased by 25% from FY21 to FY22 and by 50% from FY22 to FY23.

Prior to her role at Safe Shores, Liberty served as the Stewardship and Communications Specialist for the Anne Arundel Community College Foundation, where she oversaw all aspects of the foundation’s external communications and increased collaboration with the college’s strategic communications team. Liberty’s other roles include Development & Marketing Coordinator at Civic Works in Baltimore and Development & Outreach Coordinator at Paths for Families (formerly Adoptions Together) in Calverton; in both roles she provided support for broad development functions, including special events, annual appeals, database administration, and Giving Tuesday campaigns.  

Outside of work, Liberty enjoys spending time with her husband, three dogs, and three cats. In her spare time, she volunteers as a summer camp director, as a dog foster and fundraising volunteer with Animal Allies Rescue Foundation, and on historical document digitization and transcription projects.
