Myrabel is one of three recipients of the Al Neely Scholarship, established in 2011 to honor the memory of Al Neely (1945-2010), a loyal CDI supporter, and his wife, Dr. Carla Elliott-Neely, a former CDI Trustee. The Al Neely Scholarships are awarded to deserving college sophomores, juniors, and seniors each year to allow them to participate in prestigious internships or summer programs.
What career field do you plan to enter after college?
I plan to work in the areas of law and public policy, and with nonprofit organizations.
What organization did you intern for?
Collegiate Directions, Inc.
What were some of the duties you performed during your internship?
I managed and entered information on scholarships, enrichment programs, etc. into the organization’s various databases. In addition to conducting various administrative tasks, I organized a photo archive and conducted education policy research.
How would you describe your overall internship experience?
I had a great time interning for CDI. I learned a lot about nonprofit organizations and how an education management nonprofit runs. I also gained insight into education policy through a research project on the Higher Education Act reauthorization and how policy on the federal level affects students and universities. I think the internship made me more mature and helped me learn the kind of work environment I like, as well as how to best maximize my time while working for an organization.
