CDI Learning Academy
The CDI Learning Academy is a professional development series that will help education professionals better serve college-bound, low-income, first generation-to-college students by expanding on CDI’s best practices by way of workshops, webinars, and featured speakers in the following areas: Financial Aid; Mental Health/Wellness; and College Access, Admissions, and Graduation.
College Access, Admissions, and Graduation
This area will focus on highlighting the importance of closing the income gap in college access and graduation for low-income students. We’ll discuss the current issue impacting low-income students’ college persistence, as well as the opportunity barriers in determining and actualizing career paths.
Financial Aid
The financial aid component will look at the challenges that low-income, first-generation students and their families face in the admissions process and persisting in college. We’ll also look at the availability/structure of funding for students and how it may or may not assist in their college graduation goals.
Mental Health/Wellness
The mental health/wellness focus of the CDI Learning Academy will highlight the mental health challenges that low-income, first-generation students face and how to better support them and find the appropriate resources.
